Disable driver signing in Windows

Windows enforces the third party drivers to be digitally signed otherwise it blocks them from being installed on the system. This requirement can be disabled in the following way.

Windows XP:

  • Open My computer properties`
  • Click on Hardware tab
  • Click on ‘Driver signing’ button.
  • Select the first option ‘Install the software any way and don’t ask for my approval

  •   After selecting the first option, click on OK and close the window.

Registry key for driver signing configuration:

The registry value Policy under the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftDriver Signing controls the driver signing setting.
